Routine cleanings, X-rays, and exams are critical in maintaining good oral health. At every cleaning appointment you will have a thorough oral cancer screening, along with a cleaning to remove all buildup to help prevent cavities, gingivitis, and gum disease. Following your gentle cleaning by our hygienist, you will also be provided an exam and treatment plan to address any needs. The ADA recommends this happens every 6 months to maintain optimum oral health.
At Ainsworth Family Dental, LLC, our staff is trained to provide care for all ages. Kids, just like adults, are recommended to be seen every 6 months for routine cleanings, X-rays, and exams. Following that, if your child needs dental treatment we will make the best recommendation to see that they receive treatment without creating dental anxiety. We utilize nitrous oxide in our office to make dental treatment more comfortable if needed. If your child needs sedation more aggressive than nitrous oxide, we will make the necessary referral to a pediatric dentist.
Common pediatric dental treatment includes: sealants, composite fillings, stainless steel crowns, composite crowns, and extraction of "baby" teeth" when indicated.
Invisalign is a clear alternative to braces that uses a series of customized, removable aligners to straighten teeth. Our team is certified to provide Invisalign treatment. Initial Invisalign consults are free and can often be done alongside your dental cleaning appointment.
We offer a minimally invasive dental implant option to replace missing teeth, or support dentures. Through the implant process, a titanium screw is placed in your jaw, which serves as the underlying support for a crown, bridge, or denture to provide tooth replacement.
We offer two amazing options for whitening, to give your teeth a brighter and lighter appearance. Glo in-office whitening system is a great option to get your teeth to their desired shade quickly, under dental supervision. If you like a more self guided approach, we also offer Glo whitening at-home kits, or custom made whitening trays with Opalescence whitening gel.
Composite fillings are a great method in restoring teeth following cavity removal. The material utilized is shade matched so that it is essentially unnoticeable. Through a process of sculpting, light curing to harden, and polishing, composite is the obvious choice over the old metal amalgam fillings. Composite can also be utilized to cover staining, cover up cracks or gaps in teeth, or to rebuild/ reshape teeth.
Crowns and veneers are both porcelain made and offer a tooth colored approach to covering teeth. Crowns are often times indicated when teeth have significant breakdown, crack, or weakened structure, that a composite filling cannot fix. Crowns are also oftentimes recommended following root canal procedures.
Veneers and crowns can also be utilized as a cosmetic approach to cover discoloration, close gaps, and improve the overall appearance of teeth. Veneers are bonded to the front of teeth, whereas crowns cover the entire natural tooth structure.
Crowns can also be made from gold or other metal alloys based on indicated need, or preference.
We offer a range of orthodontic appliances, including retainers, expanders, and space maintainers. Our team will work with you to determine which appliance is right for your needs. We also work closely alongside, and have an orthodontist come to our office every 5-6 weeks for orthodontic needs such as braces, expanders, and consult.
A dental extraction will be recommended when a tooth is severely broken, infected, or decayed and therefore, cannot be treated adequately with any other dental treatment. With use of local anesthetic, a tooth can be removed with little to no discomfort. Extractions may also be recommended through orthodontic treatment, to improve overall alignment and spacing.
When the nerve of the tooth becomes infected or inflamed, a root canal is often recommended. With use of local anesthetic, this procedure removes the problematic nerve, cleans the canal, and seals the root canal. This allows the tooth be be saves, versus extracted.
A dental bridge is a good option for replacement of a missing tooth or teeth. Through use of porcelain crowns on neighboring teeth to create a "bridge", the missing tooth can be replaced permanently. Bridges are often made from porcelain, but can also be made from gold or metal alloys.
Partial dentures are another option for tooth replacement, and can be utilized to replace a singular tooth or multiple teeth. Partials are able to be taken in and out of your mouth, and are not a permanently cemented option, like bridges. They rest on your gums, and have clasps that go around your existing teeth to help keep them in, and improve function.
Dentures are an option for complete tooth replacement, when no natural teeth remain in your mouth. Dentures are able to be taken in and out of your mouth. Sometimes, if there's enough bone width/height, implants can be placed to help retain your dentures in your mouth and provide better stability and function.
